Renegade Edible Book Day 2023
Apr. 1st, 2023 03:51 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
(actually, it's more like a taco?)
While efforts to wrangle the first annual Edible Book Week may have been a bit half baked, some of us are calling it a success! Two baking classes, a number of WIP edible photos shared, and enough puns to choke on-- we're here. April 1st! Edible Book Day!
Members of Renegade did not disappoint! Behold the tasty treats offered for your viewing pleasure! And if you'd like, feel free to vote in our joke poll -- it's all for fun because clearly every entry is a winner!
Sushi Book
created by rhipiduridae
i like sushi
and normally
it’s smol and round
and quite ãŠã„ã—ã„
but now it’s flat
and tho i’m shook
i pick it up
i lik the book
The Breakfast Pages (Pancake, egg, green onion and cilantro)
created by Lauren
If I would attempt this again I would experiment with adding flavor to the pages and the pancakes. While edible unseasoned and basic, not the most tasty.

Renegade's Other Motto
created by Daemonluna
Nori cover ornamented with tofu skin, corn tortilla pages and mushroom letters attached with umiboshi paste, bound with cilantro stems.

I Don't Actually Like Ham
created by Lark
I would not make this again

A Sweet Snack
created by six
Dehydrated mango covers, crepe pages, pamphlet stitch with Twizzler. Very tasty!

Gingerbread tablets
created by Rachel Kadel
Writing practice, some cuneiform and some roman alphabet. The cuneiform is mostly gibberish but says "Ashurbanipal" at least once.

Dyptic
created by anonymous
dyptic made of shortcrust and salted caramel, text written in blue food colour
My naym is Dyptic
and when of old
the peeple were
sick scrolls to hold
They split in half
now don't be schook
a piece of wood
to make first book
( are you a Renegade member who's wrapping up a piece at the last minute? It's not too late-- ping six to get your entries added to the menu! )
Also check out Renegade's website for this event!

Binderary 2023
Jan. 31st, 2023 01:48 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)

Binderary 2023 is about to start!
For any fanbinders or bookbinders on here feel free to join us - it's a bookbinders' version of Nanowrimo!
The goal is simple - set yourself your own challenge for the month of February and bind, experiment, or go as feral as you want in your bookbinding journey. We’ve put together some rough categories here for people if they’d like to follow, but really this is just our effort to create some awesome conversation pieces and art in the community.
Throughout February, we will be hosting workshops and discussions about bookbinding and fanbinding, all for free. The topics covered will be everything from different binding styles to how to typeset in various programs to paper marbling to fandom history to the chemistry of bookbinding. If you would like to join us, there is a link to our Discord located on our Carrd.
Feel free to post any of your creations or mishaps or cool ideas to the comm, and to tag them with events: binderary 2023. You can also drop posts in our project: tag, under finished, planning, or wip.
Happy binding!

We created this community to give more space to the sharing, collaborative, affirmative, renegade side of fanbinding. Our goal is to make it as accessible and as inclusive as possible. We believe that preserving fannish works and history is important for our community and therefore we practice the sharing of our techniques, resources, tips as well as our joys, tears, mishaps and finally, our work. We encourage questions, process notes, pictures; we are here to crowdsource solutions if we can, hold each other’s hands, express our sympathies, cheer each other up and be very, very proud of each other and ourselves.
We are nerds, we want to learn more. We are curious about any topics related to fanbinding: archiving, fancraft, typography, copyright, whatever you see fit.
We are excited to see what kind of new discussions this space will foster.
Welcome and happy binding!
